Description
So the wife and I decided to chase the Aurora the other night. Even though I had to work the next morning we decided to make the 2.5 hour trip to South Higgins Lake State Park. We headed out around 730 pm at Clare we noticed that there were thick clouds at the horizon North and it looked like storm clouds. We decided to stop at Higgins and reassess. After looking at the weather apps it looked like heavy storms around Gaylord but clear to the North. We decided to head to Mackinaw. We went through some heavy rain around Gaylord. We made it to Mackinaw around 11:30 pm and pulling into the parking lot I could see pillars dancing over the bridge. I was like come on lets go as we ran to the beach. We missed some of the show but Lady Aurora hung around dancing fading in and out for the next hour. We finally packed it in around 12:40 am and headed home. We got home around 4:30 am so instead of setting my normal alarm for 5 am to get up for work I set it for 6:30 am. Needless to say I was really dragging at work but it was totally worth it chasing the Northern Lights with Lynn. Here's looking forward to the next last minute adventure
